My Journey to Union Activism
My journey to becoming a Union activist began with experiences that many of you will be all too familiar with: contacting the Local Council Office about the issues I was facing as a Reserve Flight Attendant.
Even when I was still in my probationary period, when I started running into the same Reserve contract issues over and over again, I picked up the phone and called the Union reps on call – sometimes for help, and other times just out of sheer frustration. One day, instead of just listening, they said to me, “You should get involved with the Reserve Committee, really learn this contract section, and help your flying partners.”
That was the spark. What started as a new Flight Attendant trying to navigate Reserve life turned into a calling to serve, learn the why’s behind the what’s, and then offer ways to make our Union work more efficient. I realized that if I was struggling, so were others, and that stepping up to volunteer was the best way to make things better not only for myself, but for all of us.
My Commitment
From the very beginning, my approach has been grounded in honesty, fairness, and accountability.
I believe every Union leader must hold themselves to the highest moral and ethical standards because our Members deserve nothing less.
For me, that means giving straight answers, keeping my commitments, and fighting for every contractual right and provision, no matter what it takes.
My Experience
Over the years, I’ve been proud to serve Council 21 in a variety of roles:
Officer Roles: Council Representative (2020–2022), Interim Local Council President (2023), and currently Local Council Vice President.
Committee Leadership: Current Chairperson of the Local Communications Committee. Previously served as Reserve Committee Chairperson.
Committees Served: Communications, Grievance, Membership Engagement & New Hire Support, and Reserve.
Union Trainings Attended: Communications, Grievance, Reserve, and International Office New Officer Training.
Union Trainings Developed & Facilitated: Programs including New Volunteer Training, New Hire Navigator/Orientation, Reserve Workshops, and Reserve Committee Volunteer Training.
This work has given me a strong foundation not only in the technical knowledge of our Contract and processes, but also in building teams, solving problems in the moment, and empowering others to step into leadership.
Why I'm Running for President
I’m running for Local Council President because I know how much it matters to have leadership you can count on. Leadership that doesn’t just listen, but acts in the interest of our Council members.
From my earliest days on probation, I experienced firsthand the struggles of navigating Reserve life. That frustration lit a fire in me to step up, learn our contract, and dedicate myself to helping my flying partners.
Over the years, I’ve built a strong foundation of experience. This experience has given me both the knowledgebase and the practical skills to lead Council 21 effectively. I know how our systems work, where they break down, and how to make them stronger.
But beyond experience, what qualifies me most is my commitment to you. I am honest with you in every conversation, I follow through on every promise, and I always put the Membership first. My record shows I don’t just talk about transparency, accountability, and solidarity – I live it.
I’m running because I believe Council 21 deserves leadership that is:
- Membership-Driven: Every decision grounded in the needs and voices of our Members.
- Transparent & Accountable: Clear communication and follow-through, every single time.
- Unshakably United: Standing together to enforce and advance our Contract without compromise.
This campaign isn’t about a title – it’s about service. I want to continue the work I’ve started, not only solving problems as they arise but building a stronger, more engaged Council for the future. Together, we can make sure every Member has the Union they deserve.
